So I really want to go to Florida for a week to visit my dad before my Sweet 16 because none of my friends are around.
I did the research and everything, looked for the flight and the prices and everything, and I even spoke with my dad over the phone and he said he would not mind that I went down there at all for a week then they/we would drive up from Florida a few days before my party.
Half the battle is done.
All I need to do now is ask my mother if I can.
But knowing my mom, she's going to be quick to say no, to both going to Florida and to going on a plane by myself even though I am sixteen and highly responsible. (And it was supposedly written in the divorce papers that once I turn sixteen, I can go down on a plane and visit by myself.) I understand that she would be worried sick about me and all but I would really like to go.
Any advice on how I can bring this up to my mom without upsetting her or her getting angry at me?

Sounds tough, lucky I know tons of ways you can convince your mom.

1.) Airlines are very good with minors traveling by themselves. The parents are allowed to see their kid off at the first destination. Then the minor rides on the plane and gets to the destination. Then the person who is going to pick them up has to show valid ID. You can't leave the airport on your own, but it'd make your mom feel safer about you travelling to Flordia.

2.) Have your dad explain this to your mom; it sounds more proffesional coming from another adult, plus she knows he's okay with it.

3.) Clean your room and random parts of the house often without being asked. This gives you what I call "brownie points" and makes you look more responsible to her.

4.) Explain to your mom that your friends won't be here and it is every girl's dream to have a good sweet sixteen. Due to the loss of your friends you want to go to Flordia a paradise to make up for the lack of friends.

(Only resort to #4 if you have to.)

Okay. It's what I most commonly use to get things from my parents. It is from the same format of me getting a DS, a cat, and travelling to far away places with friends. It works a lot, but sometimes it doesn't. It depends what else is going on in your life at the moment.
