Mia ran across the rooftops, waiting momentarily at each one to see if a familiar voice was heard inside. She didn't quite know the way to Chase's home in Mineral Town, so she simply had to guess.

In a Messenger Bag, slung over her shoulders, was a large picking of Cherries, tucked safely in so not to get damaged in the trip. While climbing quite high up in the trees of Mineral Town, she'd discovered that Cherries bloomed up at the tips of trees.

So, she'd picked a few dozen, careful to only take so little of the clusters each, and ran back to the rooftops.
Leaping onto one more roof, she tapped her feet a little against the surface, hoping this was finally the right building.

It wasn't so much the feet dangling in front of his window that startled him. Okay, that certainly played a role. But Chase didn't think much of it as he dragged himself out of bed. He knew who it was, of course; after all, who else in the world would be sitting on the rooftops, for goodness sakes?

He opened the window of his house, and peered outside. "Mia, what are you doing?"

Mia smiled and caught sight of Chase peeking out his window. Lucky this was the right building, a few more and she would've thrown it through any old window.

Quietly lowered the bag to the window, dangling it just in the frame.
"For you." She said softly, waiting for Chase to pick it from it's place in the air.

Chase took the burlap sack and pulled it inside, setting it on the windowsill. "What is it?" he asked, pulling off the string that kept the bag tied. Inside, a neat bundle of cherries painted the cloth red. "Cherries?" He laughed. He reached back outside and tugged at her foot, which was still dangling in front of his window. "Come down here."

Mia hopped off the roof and quickly snaked in through the window, grinning.
"It took me ages to find your building, y'know." She laughed, thankful she finally found it.

Chase's room was pretty cozy, nice and warm, a welcome change from the cold air of the night outside.

"Well, must be pretty hard to tell the difference when you're on the roofs. Can't imagine much distinction up there." He smiled as he sat down on the bed, pulling out a cherry and popping one in his mouth. "You want one?" he asked, offering her the bag that she had given him. Her mouth was stained red; he suspected that she had already enjoyed a little of her spoil before arriving. He motioned for her to sit down beside him.

Mia nodded. She'd lost track of how long she'd spent hopping from roof to roof, waiting to find Chase inside one of them. A long time, she was sure of it.

Sitting down beside Chase, she shook her head.
Her own lips still tasted of the sweet cherries, she didn't need anymore.
Just yet.

Upon looking at the clock, she realised. It was a little late for her to be prying into Chase's house.
"Hah, it's pretty late. Should I leave?" She asked, smiling apologetically.

"You sure?" He dangled a particularly juicy one in front of her, before popping it in his own mouth. "They're good," he singsonged, eating another one.

He followed her eyes to the clock. It wasn't that late, not to him. He had a habit of staying up late, especially when he was tired, which had never made sense to him. His body was strange and masochistic, he assumed. That wasn't what made him grab her hand and shake his head. "Don't go."

Mia was about to get up, until she felt Chase's warm grip around her wrist.
"I suppose I'll stay, then." She mused, grinning.
After all, she knew she'd wind up straight back here in a few hours, no matter what Chase did.


As the night slowly ventured on, and Cherries were picked off, she felt the dark grow cold around her.
"You're warm. I'm stealing your arm." She declared, sneakily shuffling over and resting her shoulder against Chase's, picking a small cherry from the cluster and popping it into her mouth with an impish grin.

"Are you stalking me?" he teased, sliding his arm around her waist. This was still new to him, this whole arrangement with Mia. It was a little awkward, the transition from friend to...whatever stage of "something more" they were at, but it felt strangely natural. It felt right.

He rested his cheek against her head and exhaled. "Want another one?" He had no idea what to say, which was unlike him.

"Yes, I'm stalking you." Mia answered smugly, smiling, enjoying Chase's warmth.
Closing her eyes for a moment, she sighed, not wearily, but peacefully. Though the two were still just getting their feet wet in matters of love, she felt comfortable.
At ease.

It was all as if it were some wonderful Shakespeare unfolding before them, a shy but warm love, shared between two polar opposites.

"Well, don't stop." There didn't need to be a title or an explanation. There didn't need to be a right or a wrong. There just needed to be him and her. They could figure out the rest later. The way he saw it, they had a lot of time to figure it all out. Forever, if need be. But for now, he just wanted her. So he kissed her.

Upon the kiss, Mia had thought she'd finally erased the cherry from her lips, but the familiar taste was back quite quickly. She didn't complain though, the sweet tang of cherries were always best off someone else's lips.

"I love you, I truely do." She mused in a sing-song voice as they pulled away, wrapping her arms tenderly around Chase.

"You've said that already," he reminded her, smiling. "Many times." He played with a strand of her choppy hair, running his fingers through the locks that reminded him of his own. "Don't stop." He laced his fingers through hers and held them up, examining each one like it was completely new to him, and then released her hand in order to pull her small yet atheletic frame into his lap.

"I don't think I've said hello to you properly," he grinned, kissing her cheek. "So hi."

Mia certainly liked being perched on Chase's lap, warm and cozy and close, all she could ever want. Smiling, she gently stole back his hand and held it close as if it were a precious gem.
"Hello there." She giggled softly.

A few hours passed, and many sweet moments were had, but Mia soon found herself drowsy, laying her head upon Chase's shoulder.
With a yawn, she couldn't keep her eyes open for any longer, and quickly fell into a warm, happy sleep.

It took Chase a few minutes to figure out that Mia had fallen asleep, and even more to figure out what to do. For a moment, he simply sat there, watching her sleep. It was sweet; she was like a child, lively when awake and adorable in slumber. After a while, he picked her up in his arms, and peeled back the covers on his bed. He settled her down, pulled the covers back over her, and kissed her forehead. "Night, Mia," he whispered, before grabbing a pillow out of his closet and settling on the couchbed in the corner of the room, where he was asleep before long.
