Mia had been feeling the child kick when the cramps started.
"Oww..."

She had, at first, simply dismissed it as a regular pain of Pregnancy. But it got worse. And didn't go away.
Confused, she held her hands to her stomach. What was happening?
Then Mia realised. She looked to her spouse, biting her lip.

"Chase... I think... The baby." She couldn't find words under the sudden pain in her stomach.

Chase was nodding off in the corner in his easy chair. Sleep hadn't come easily in the past few weeks, but he knew that it was bound to become even scarcer before long, and he was trying to find odd times to catch a nap.

He woke up at the sound of Mia's voice, and looked over at her. "Huh?" he mumbled, still half-asleep.

It didn't take very long at all for him to snap out of that.

"Are you okay?" he said, getting up and hurrying over to her. Then he shook his head. "Come on. We're going to the Clinic."
