Basically, the oil from the huge spill in the Gulf is starting to wrap around the bottom of Florida. Tar balls "[are] potentially lethal. A tar ball can smother a seabird, spawning shrimp or mangrove root, experts say."
This summer is going to suck. Tar-y beaches, skyrocketing gas prices, and not to mention the thousands of animals and ecosystems that are being impacted by this.
