Quick farming explanations:
Each bag of seeds – purchased at a general or a seed store – covers a 3x3 area. Your beginning field is 9x9 spaces. The prices listed here are for individual crops – one eggplant in the shipping bin on your farm would earn you 40G.

You must actively care for your farm for the entire grow time to be able to harvest. Just a simple reply each day – “Alice watered the crops and weeded,” for example – will be quite enough. If you skip a day here or there, that’s fine, but it’ll take a day longer for your crop to be ready to harvest.

If you neglect your farm, your crops will die!


Elaborations:
You can buy seeds from a multitude of places. Simple crops may be sold at General Stores, while more advanced (and expensive) seeds may be sold at the town's greenery. You must buy your seeds before you plant!

Create a field topic in your farm forum. That will be one of several stickies. There, you can "plant seeds." To do this, you don't need to write an entire RP post. You can make a list of what's being planted, like this:

That's a total area of 18 squares. (2 three-by-three plots = 18 squares.)

So each day, in the Field sticky, you need to post something about your character caring for the seeds. Again, this part doesn't require elaborate posts; "Gina watered 18 squares and pulled 3 weeds" will suffice.

After the Grow Time of your plant [Grow Times and Selling Prices for each crop are available here] has been completed, make a post about your character harvesting that plant. Not each plant has the same grow time, so you may need to harvest and water in the same day.
"Gina harvested 9 onions and watered 9 squares."

You can either ship or store the crops you have collected.
