Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

Steadily, Cody kept track of his breathing as he took his morning run. His injuries from the fire were now better and he had a lot of work to do to catch up from his healing days. A long bandage ran up from his wrist to his shoulder, but one couldn't see the one on his chest for his gray shirt covered it. His hair was lightly covered with his sweat, but it didn't bother him too much. Sweating was just a natural part of working out and Cody looked forward to the nice cool shower he took when he was all done.

Cody loved every bit of working out oddly enough. The sweat wasn't too much for him, not at all. He just loved the rush running gave him, the feeling of the earth beneath his feet, and the bounce of his dog tags on his chest. If it was summer and he didn't have his bandages he'd probably be running without a shirt on. Too bad for him, he could live wearing a shirt while working out though.

Taking a break, Cody decided to stop in front of cafe-slash-hospital. He never got why the owner originally wanted to put them both together, but he did admit he liked the food there. It was cheap and tasty, perfect for his small budjet. He stood there and took his pulse thinking about getting a glass of water from the place or not to.

Dante walked out of the hospital portion of the building and into the cafe section. "I wonder what I should get today to keep this day going?".
As he walked through the doors he noticed a lone male standing near the counter while a bored looking girl waited for him to order. The man had a large bandage on him. "Hm, not one of my recent patients. Wait, are those dogtags?".
Dante had been in wars before, particularly not any part that he wanted to remember, however, something urged him over to the possible veteran similar to him. Building up courage he walked over, not sure if the guy would flip out on him.
"Hey, I'm sorry to ask, but I noticed your dog tags and wanted to know what branch are you part of Mr....Hanes?".

Cody's breathing settled down and so did his pulse, it was nice to get back to his normal. Running was great, but it'd be bad if he overworked himself too soon. So far he felt that he had done a good job with his run, but he knew it was nothing close to what he used to do. It'd be a long time till he got back to his standard.

When he heard someone start to talk to him, Cody flinched and turned his head to the man. Both his hair and his eyes were dark, and he was in a doctor's garb. He was first talking to himself, but then noticed the dog tags that hung from Cody's neck. Maybe he was part of the military too for all Cody knew. Not many people around here talked about that sort of thing much though.

"Yeah, just call me Cody," he said smiling while wipping away the sweat at his brow. "I'm not active now, but I am part of the infantry. Why do you ask?"

Dante had been relieved that the man did not lash out at him for asking about it, for all he knew the guy could have been sensitive to the question. When he saw Mr.Hanes flinch and turn quickly towards him however, it made him flinch a bit too.
"Well, first off, let me introduce myself Cody, I am known as Dante. And the reason I asked about your tags is because I was in the military myself awhile back, in the Medical Corps." Dante took out the dog tags he kept in the front pocket of his doctor's coat and handed them to Cody gesturing for him to take them as if to show proof.

Cody was right for once, the both of them fell from the same tree. It was strange that he wasn't the only one here that was involved in the military, but not in a bad way. Knowing a kindred spirit was nice to him personally, since military men were sparce around here. He always thought he was the only one.

"Med Corps, huh?" Cody said thinking about it. One of the closest friends he had made in the army joined the Medical Corps, because he was a doctor. Science wasn't Cody's good subject, nor anything related to it--so he just joined the infantry. Physical activity was something he excelled in not thinking.

Taking the dog tags Cody read them over, this guy was legit. Definatly part of the Medical Corps without a doubt, a fitting position for a doctor. Some of the best doctors to Cody were the ones involved in the military because they often had to work in non-favoriable conditions. "That's cool," smiling Cody said tossing the tags back to Dante. "Are you discharged or not active?"

Dante took the his tags back and put them back in his pocket. "Yes, the Med Corps. I think that's the major reason I became a surgeon here." Dante said thinking to himself partially. "I was discharged after serving for five years, my contract I signed was up anyway."
Dante did not expect talking to another soldier would go as well as it was. "I don't see very many people that were in the military around here, how long have you been here? I haven't seen you around before.".

It made clear sense that a Medical Corps soldier would end up in a doctor proffession, for that is what they specialized in the military and it was easily transfered to 'normal' life. Cody didn't have any part of the infantry that he really could really put towards any kind of speciality. Fighting close-combat was what he did, and here there weren't any jobs that went with that. If he had lived in the city he certainly could be a body guard, but all he could do here was help out at a music store.

"I'm currently non-active myself," Cody explained--basically telling Dante that he could be called to the army pretty much any moment. It was troublesome to know that one moment he could be talking casually on this small country road and then the next he could be at a desert many miles away dodging bullets. Being in the army was all he really knew, so it'd be awhile since he wouldn't sign a contract.

"Only for a couple seasons," Cody said recalling that he came in mid-spring. This was probably the longest he had ever stayed in one place, but that was due to his pockets being pratically empty. Living here was nice as well, so he just ended up staying. "Don't know how long I'll be staying too. What about you?"

"I know what you mean. I was let on leave for awhile then called back only a few weeks after."
"I came here a couple years back, after I was discharged, I took a job here as a resident for awhile, then became a surgeon shortly afterwards. But, I don't have much of an idea how long I will stay, this place seems nice enough to stick around, plus I probably couldn't handle city life anyway." Dante had never talked with another soldier, so sharing thoughts and ranks was really all he could think to do.

Intently Cody listened to Dante explain himself, taking in each detail carefully. To him it was nice that there was someone that understood his current situation and that he could use as a reference for what he decided. Part of him was tempted to quit right now, but there still was that uncertaintly. He wanted to be apart of something bigger and not think so selfishly.

"I know what you mean," admitted Cody shrugging his shoulders. "I honestly don't know how long I will stay here myself. I tend to travel with the wind myself."

He got a job for starters though and was close to being unpacked though, so maybe he was going to stay for quite awhile yet. Nice people lived here without a doubt, but he couldn't help but wonder if it was the place for him though. That feeling of being 'home' hadn't yet come to him. "It is a nice place here I have to agree though."
