What is the best way of planting trees for the best effect and amount of produce in Harvest Moon: AWL

I used to have this game! okay well I used to plant trees in every other square block...but that didnt work. So I tried planting them in every three blocks. so if you have at least two blocks seperating the trees it should work and the trees should be healthy...but the everyother might work as well.
