I know that when you are about to end your game you are allowed to send an item with your child. My question is, can it be a single stack of items (like 81 Cocoa seeds), or one singular item (no stack)?

I haven't gotten to this part yet (Since my first child is still a baby! xD)
I've seen videos when this person gave their child 5 chocolate bars (single stack of items) So I guess you can give them a single stack of items?

I plan on giving my child a diamond.....lol

Well, I just tried a stack of 99 jars of cherry jam. When it got to my new character, I only got 1 >.> Fortunately, I still have another save where I'm married to Kathy, so I'll finish that one up and have the kid send a duck egg (gets me a leg-up on the blue bell quest) or a hibacus flower (for the wizard's quest)
